Beautiful blue and white floral design mug - wheel thrown with draycott white stoneware from potclays. When the body of the mug is leather hard I add on a handle and leave it under cover for a few days so that the handle and mug reach the same hardness. Then I paint on the floral design by hand with some guidelines in a blue underglaze. The mug is then slowly dried and then bisque fired. Once out of the kiln I glaze the mug carefully blocking out the design beforehand with wax resist so that the white glaze doesn't cover the pattern.
The mug is then fired to 1270 degrees in a high fire which vitrifies the clay and the glaze sets into a lovely white shiny glaze which ensures that the mug is safe for all those lovely cups of coffee and tea.
Measures 9cm high and 9.5cm in diameter.
Sent in lots of protective wrapping and packing which is both biodegradable and recyclable with a Royal Mail Tracked service.
